Dr inż. Agnieszka Żuchowska is a researcher in biotechnology and bioengineering at the Faculty of Chemistry, Warsaw University of Technology. Her work focuses on developing advanced in vitro models for studying cancer, drug metabolism, and inter-organ communication.
A key aspect of her research is the development of Organ-on-Chip and Multi-Organ-on-Chip microfluidic platforms that recreate dynamic tissue microenvironments and enable predictive studies of complex biological systems. Currently, she focuses on modeling biological barriers, including the blood–brain barrier, gut–blood barrier, and endothelial barrier, to investigate their role in diseases such as depression, inflammatory bowel diseases, and cancer, with particular emphasis on metastasis.
She has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and is a co-inventor of multiple patents in microfluidic and cell culture technologies. Her research is being translated into practice through the development of a biotechnology start-up focused on organ-on-chip solutions.
